Don't let data goes to waste!
Access Control
Is your company still handing keys to employees to open doors? if it's yes, then you are a little behind, and you need to have a system that can handle the in/out efficiently.
Keys are still very essential to doors, but the biggest challenge while using keys is that everyone who accesses the door needs to have a key. If someone forgets the key, they will have to wait for someone else who can open a door for them, or maybe you can lock yourself out, we can keep going with the inconveniences of keys, but you got the point.
Key advantage of using an access control:
With today's technology, doors can be controlled remotely, but not only the control that a good access system can offer.
Authenthication by level:
In a multiple-door office, you can grant and deny access to people based on their job, position, department...etc
Access Schedule:
You can set the door to operate during certain hours of the day and deny accessibility during the off hours
Keyless Entries:
You don't have to have a key or a badge with you. You can set the system to grant access to people by using their facial recognition or by using their fingerprints.
Biggest advantage:
We only mentioned a couple of features, but access control can make your life easier in so many ways, but the most important feature for access control is the
DATA COLLECTION. The system can register everything that's going on and saves all data for future reference. By using the data collected, you can have an idea of when people are going in/out. Maybe one day that data can be used in identifying or resolving a case in case something happens. You will know exactly who was present during a specific time.
Intercom System
Intercom system can be called an access control as well, but the main difference is the video capabilities and the call redirection.
You probably have seen or used an intercom already. They are known to be used in residential buildings. An Intercom system has its advantages as well compared to access control. We will mention a few features here.
Access capabilities:
You can have the same control over who has access just like the access control.
Audio and Video:
These Are probably the most attractive features of an Intercom system. You will be able to view and talk to visitors using your smartphone. not all intercoms have these features as some of them come without the audio and video capabilities
Calls redirections:
Another option that can make an intercom different from access control is the ability to redirect visiters calls to specific people in the directory (Most cases will be tenants).
We can keep mentioning the options of both systems, and we will have to write a very long article. The bottom line is that each system was made for a specific role. access control was made for an office building with multiple access doors or offices, while intercom was made for residential buildings.
